LRTC Information Sheet
| TEAM-LRTC is a project envisioned by Chris and Julie Erlon of Central Texas and made possible by support from generous private donors, EquestrianSingles.com, and dedicated Texas volunteers. |
The endeavor got seriously underway Memorial Day Weekend, 2005, with a project organized in cooperation with
Wild Horses in Need (WIN) of Santa Barbara, CA. TEAM-LRTC took in nine Nevada yearling mustangs that were rescued by WIN from the infamous Slick Gardner disaster in Buellton, CA. Since some of the volunteers are relatively new at gentling wild horses, it was determined that the young horses would be a good group to start with. The Red Rock Learning Center also receives rescue animals and will work with more difficult horses.
Volunteers have been gentling these animals at the TEAM-LRTC Learning Center in Red Rock, TX, where the horses are currently available for adoption to approved adopters. TEAM-LRTC volunteers will also provide assistance to these adopters once the animals are placed to ensure that the adoption experience will be good for both the adopters and their horses. The Red Rock Learning Center is located in a wooded area and is configured so the young horses can spend time together socially in larger enclosures when not being "schooled."
