Another Horse in the House!

Part Five

(These photos were taken when Heidi was 8 days old.)

Running with my friends.
I'm faster than you!.
Helping hang up the clothes.
Heidi had 23 "cousins" arrive in hopes of being adopted. These Virginia Range Weanlings were from dams rescued in the Slick Gardner abuse case in Santa Barbara County (CA).

The next photo is another of Heidi's band, the "Stagecoach Seven, taken on March 3rd. You might note that Heidi has a half brother or sister who appeared during the night, and the mare on the far left looks ready to present yet another!
The "Stagecoach Seven... plus one."
Heidi now has a good chance of survival. This story provides a good example of what can happen when citizens are alert, public agencies take positive steps and work together, and non-profit groups will work cooperatively with local and state animal agencies for the benefit of animals.

Visitors should note that Heidi has been adopted and will go to her new home when she is old enough and the veterinarian determines that she is healthy enough. LRTC's Lucky Horse Rehabilitation Project has a number of rescued weanlings to place with adopters.
