Just Another Horse -
The Story of Trooper
(Formerly "Donald Trump")

PART NINE

2011 Western States
Wild Horse & Burro Expo

This page is a continuation of a series that starts at Part One.

  FUN AT THE
WILD HORSE & BURRO EXPO

Trooper earned the nickname "Swamp Thing" because he likes to bail water out of his horse trough and make swamps for the other horses and him to stand in on hot days. Sharon decided that she could make a "Swamp Thing" costume by cutting up a gilly suit and reshaping it to fit a horse. This turned out to be a huge project in order to get the suit to cover the horse and still move with him. Trooper stood patiently for his "fittings" that oftentimes took two hours at a time, and that went on for over two weeks until the suit worked properly.

The prison horses as well as Expo participants played around and also competed on the LRTC Confidence Course. The various mustangs and burros generally did well on the obstacles and puzzles.
