Just Another Horse -
The Story of Trooper
(Formerly "Donald Trump")

PART SIX

This page is a continuation of a series that starts at Part One.

  UNDER SADDLE AGAIN

The next day Trooper appeared to be sound. We saddled up and explored the obstacle course. Under saddle Trooper took every obstacle on the first "ask," just as he did on the lead.
Backing through the barrels.
Posing on the tire pedestal.
We also went for a short ride around the neighborhood. Since we hadn't come up with a headstall for him, we went out with just a halter and lead rope for head gear.

We had previously made an appointment with Dr. Schank at the Lahontan Veterinary Clinic in Fallon. Just to be safe we kept the appointment. Dr. Schank checked Trooper's feet and determined that his discomfort was only temporary, mainly due to the abscess and having a fresh trim after he got to our place on slightly overgrown feet.

Dr. Schank also commented on what a well mannered horse Trooper was.

Waiting for his appointment with the vet.
The weather the next day was cold and windy, so we stuck to a couple hours light saddle work around the property and in the obstacle course.
The weather improved and we would ride out on the wild horse range.
Watching the wild horses.
