Trooper was foaled to a Virginia Range mare at the state wild horse holding facility in Carson City. For some reason the mare started rejecting little Trooper and by the time he was four days old she would knock him over when he tried to nurse.
LRTC Adoption Program Manager Shirley Allen was asked if the group would take little Trooper and she did. He was weak but he would drink out of a bucket. Two days later he was full of energy, prefering to stay out with the other foals instead of coming in for his feedings.

Trooper will be available for adoption once he is old enough to eat solid food. (He can be adopted prior to his release date.)
Due to the costs involved in raising an orphan, Trooper's adoption fee will be $300.00 (approximately half our actual costs.) He will be quite tame and will be started to halter.
To inquire about adopting Trooper, please contact Shirley Allen at
